Nicholas Hay (B. Comm, B. Econ, G. Dip App. Fin (Sec Inst), Licenced Real Estate Agent) has over 20 years experience in commercial property markets with his focus over the past decade being the origination of debt and structuring of mezzanine and equity transactions for property investment and development. His core areas of expertise include structuring and arranging mezzanine debt and joint venture/equity within commercial and residential construction deals, advisory work on preparing and managing disposal of assets, non-recourse debt structures and high leverage investment debt.
Nicholas has long standing relationships with the major banks, institutional and high net worth participants in the sector, all key consultants, agents and marketers and the secondary tier primary and mezzanine debt markets. He has an in depth knowledge of both the type of projects and structures that are in tune with the tight capital constraints of the current environment.
Prior to setting up Vertica Capital, Nicholas spent 10 years at Knight Frank first within commercial leasing for 5 years and then as Manager of CBD Sales. He then joined one of Australia’s largest commercial mortgage originators in early 2003 where he was responsible for originating and structuring investment and development transactions with a gross realisation of over $1 billion.
